I'm helping to sell a 1967 oldsmobile 442 convertible for my late customer and friend. This 442 is a very good #2 condition, two owner car. I've worked on this car and spent some time with it and i'm very impressed with its overall condition. It has had one excellent quality repaint in its original color. It has its original 400 cid. Engine, automatic transmission and rear end. It's also well equipped with power top, power steering, power brakes, power antenna, tilt wheel, bucket seats, console, trunk release and chrome super stock i wheels with fairly new bfg radial tires. Back then it had 78,000 miles, now it has 80,000 miles. He also kept a log book for repairs. As i've inspected this car, it looks to have had the carpet replaced and the front seat covers redone. Also it's been detailed under the hood and underneath. I can't find any evidence of any rust or accidents ever on this car. With a flashlight i've checked inside the quarters, doors and fenders and all looks perfect. All the chrome and trim are in excellent condition. I've driven this car and i am impressed. It starts and drives as if it were new. Even the original steering wheel is in perfect condition. This is not a restored car. As such it has minor imperfections. However i find this car to be in remarkable condition. It comes with an aftermarket radio (dash isn't cut). The heater core, carb. And exhaust manifolds have been recently replaced. This is one of the nicest original paint, untouched survivor, 1971 442's available in the world! Born in sunny fremont, california. This california blue plate 1971 442 survivor is a top shelf investment that qualifies as a golden survivor! Still wearing its original saturn gold exterior paint & desirable original black interior, with many desirable options to follow! Folks, the body is impressively solid considering its age and the fact that it's never been welded or restored being over 40 years old! The body and paint are essentially a best case scenario for an unrestored real "344 vin" 442 survivor. Super straight, pretty dry, and still displaying the original paint, stripes, and patina! Make no mistake, it has its share of dings, scratches, and stone chips, as much from 40 plus years of life on earth as from being driven over the 20 plus years it was in service. Thanks to mother nature, this car has a patina like no other 1971 442! The car recently came out of long term 20 plus year indoor hibernation storage while in the second owner’s possession. After some minor servicing was completed, and original carburetor rebuilt by one of the most legendary mechanics on the west coast, it now runs and drives good and sounds great. However, it will still need some basic wakeup work, i. E: inspect brakes, replace tires as the original winston polyglass tires are decades old, i would change all the fluids, along with a more complete safety check, prior to driving daily. Good news is, the electrical seems to be working, including the original key buzzer. It also still retains some of the original t3 headlights from when it was new. Front dash is not cracked or broken, very clean. Vehicle is not perfect, but will show well at local car shows. Horn does not work either. Has power steering, but manualfront disk brakes, no a/c. Odometer reads about 73,000, but i cannot validatethe accuracy. Tires are firestone firehawk 500 p225/70 r15, battery was new in2016. Included are a shop manual and car cover. He told us that he recently drove the car from portland, oregon to sacramento, california without any issues !! It still retains it's correctly mounted - factory original - driver's door pillar mounted oldsmobile vin tag and it's - factory original - firewall mounted data plate, both of which are shown in pictures. This is a nice - dry - oregon - idaho high mountain desert - western car and it shows! This is a quality car for sure that is ready to drive, show and enjoy !! At the heart of this beauty is what appears to be the very strong !! - original - (277 horsepower!!) - rebuilt !! - 371 cid "rocket" v8 motor that is running very well indeed. It has less than 5,000 miles on a full, bare-block professional rebuild. The motor also sports the original 4 barrel intake manifold, original valve covers, original exhaust manifolds, original 4 barrel carburetor and an edelbrock custom chrome air cleaner housing, etc.. Sounds great too with the throaty "loud" true dual side exit exhaust system with dual stainless steel tips. The engine is backed by a smooth - rebuilt - two speed hydra-matic automatic transmission that also functions very well !! All of the black rubber weatherstripping is soft, supple & in great condition! Candy root beer and pearl white exterior with a very nice matching pearl white and carmine red vinyl interior is a great color combination indeed, how could it get any better on a super 88 holiday two door hardtop golden rocket ?! This super 88 comes nicely equipped including factory power steering, factory front wing windows, factory power wipers, original dual chrome side view mirrors, good heater and defroster, good glass, factory gauge cluster with 120 mph speedometer, original clock which is no longer working, adjustable rear air shocks, aftermarket equus temperature / oil pressure and voltage gauges, aftermarket equus dash mounted tachometer and an awesome kenwood digital am / fm / cd player stereo radio. (the original am radio has been removed.) there are not many of these beauties left on the roads for sure! The suspension and drive line seem to be in good working order as well as the electrical system. All of the original chrome and stainless steel exterior body trim and moldings are in very nice condition including nice original badging, very nice original painted front & rear bumpers, very nice custom stainless steel grill and nice original chrome headlight surrounds. The clean trunk also sports very nice dark red carpeting and pearl white tuck and roll vinyl liner and a full size whitewall radial spare tire. This vehicle is in great mechanical condition and it runs and drives very well! It is solid with respect to the overall mechanical condition as well as the overall cosmetic impression.
